Secrets Of the Fitness industry
Introduction
In my research in the fitness industry, it is very clear that although the fitness industry can be very beneficial and help place improve a lot of people's lives it can also be a very maddening and unethical place, and sometimes this can even be dangerous to consumers. This essay will outline these unethical issues in the fitness industry and highlight what you should be aware of when looking to start your fitness journey.
How you look not what you know
Many people when they first start getting into fitness, they fall for this mistake following and learning off the people/influencers who look the best rather than who know the most. We see this a lot with influencers on Instagram and YouTube and similar platforms the people with all the followers are not the experts in their fields but the people who often just look the best, who more often than not achieved this in an unethical way. Often these people are uneducated in their training and think just because something worked for them does not mean it will work for another this can lead to them training people in ways that could cause injuries as not teaching them appropriate form and technique.
Boring is best
There have been many different trends in the fitness industry especially over the last 5 years where there is always the newest best way to trend and how to burn fat best or gain muscle the fastest, but these are almost always just marketing. there are always new cool trainers on Instagram and YouTube doing these special supersets with state-of-the-art technology, working with celebrities, professional athletes, and more. The best people to follow for fitness advice are not your favourite celebrity who looked amazing in a movie you watched it is the coaches who you have never heard of who have done years of research and trained hundreds of people and learned the proper way to train specific to your goals. What actually works in the fitness industry can be slightly more boring it is eating appropriately and training consistently with an appropriate workout plan.
Just like the one linked (Here) which is a great starter workout plan with tips on how you can progress on your fitness journey.
There are supplements and there are "supplements"
The supplements are a huge part in the fitness industry with sales figures estimate to reach $35 billion in 2025. and where there is money there are many companies competing. So, what is the problem? the problem is that we often see companies pay fitness celebrities to endorse their products who do more than take the products they endorse. in other words, take performance enhancing drugs to enhance their physiques and often times these people claiming they do not take performance enhancing drugs.
Christian Boeving was a fitness model made famous in Chris bells steroid documentary bigger, faster stronger. During his interview, he admitted to using steroids since age of 16, and that he has a legal prescription for testosterone a PED a performance enhancing drug. when pressed by bell if that admission conflicted with his sponshirship deals with hydroxy cut a fat loss supplement and nitro-tech a muscle building supplement, Boeving replied,
"Look, I do take the products I said I take-I do take hydroxy cut, I do take nitro-tech-but I take other things Aswell"
This highlights how companies use these influencers who have achieved physics you can only attain by using steroids and market them in manner that if you use their supplement, you will somehow look this way and we know the truth is far from this.
Overcomplicating a simple process
While learning how to work out appropriately to optimize results is a learning stage once you do this it is not overly complicated you have to be consistent eat good and stick to this for years. But this is not always what sells these influencers want you to believe it is very complicated, and you can only achieve your goals if you buy their workout plan and learn everything from them. this leads us on to our next industry secret.
Genetics
Many people in the fitness industry can be put off taking about and playing down how n-big a factor genetics are. This could because it can be seen as demotivating for some, but we have to face the truth a person's genetics has a massive impact on how much they can achieve in the fitness industry. It doesn't matter how hard you work out and strict your diet is some people are just born to look much better than others it is a fact we must all accept that we have all been dealt a certain hand and now it is up to us to achieve as much as possible with this.
Money, not health, is the true motivator
The fitness industry might appear to the outside as being above this as can have the image of wanting the best for people and being all about self-improvement, but this is all a big charade. the fitness industry sells an image, nothing more. An image of health, an image of success, an image of positivity. Once you lift the veil and see what's underneath, the image shatters. What's left is a broken mess of anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. Why is it like this? just like many industries it is corrupted by money.
Do yourselves a Favor. unfollow your favourite fitness influencers on Instagram. stop watching their YouTube videos. unsubscribe to their ridiculous workout programs stop purchasing anything they promote. These people do not care how much or how little you achieve on your fitness journey they want to earn as much as possible off of you and fuel their own egos. Do not let this horrible fitness industry prevent you on your fitness journey there is still lots of great information out there I will be posting more on this platform as well as linking any information out their i feel is relevant but please start now do your research and start your fitness journey i promise you won't regret it.
Sorry to be the one to crush and dreams but theses physics cannot every be achieved without the heavy use of steroids. And even with the use of steroids you must of it hit the genetic lottery to even come close to theses physics above.
